KABUL (SW) – Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Idrees Zaman on Sunday met in his office with the Ambassador of the Republic of India to Kabul, Vinay Kumar.
According to an official statement, the meeting focused on the theme of the upcoming Bollywood film ‘Panipat’ as well as the two countries’ stance in relation to this cinematic art work.
Panipat is an upcoming Indian historical war film directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar based on the Third Battle of Panipat with Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon in the cast scheduled to release on 6 December 2019. It is thought that the film "Panipat" insulted Ahmed Shah Abdali, prompting a sharp reaction from a number of Afghan citizens.
The Panipat movie was also the subject of today's Wolesi Jirga (lower house) meeting with the MPs warning against any perceived insult to Afghan King Ahmad Shah Abdali in the film.
The movie has stirred heated debate ahead of its release in cinemas.
