QALAT (SW) – The recent flash floods have caused serious damage in Zabul province.
Spokesman for the provincial governor, Gul Islam Sayal, told Salam Watandar at least 10,000 homes have been damaged in the provincial capital, Qalat, and other districts of the province. He said the list of affected families has been sent to capital Kabul for relief and rehabilitation services, but on actions have been taken so far in this regard.
In conversation with SW, the flood victims feared a human catastrophe would emerge here if immediate rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations are not conducted in the province.
Two such devastated Zabul residents, Mohammad Juma and Saadullah, said the floods totally destroyed their livelihood, and now they have no means of survival for long. They said food, medicine, and shelter are desperately needed.
The floods have also destroyed fruit gardens and agriculture land. Floods have also caused similar destructions in neighboring Kandahar, Farah, Helmand, Uruzgan and Herat provinces.
