TALUQAN (SW): Officials informed flash floods have claimed nine lives, injured more than 20 people besides damaging hundreds of homes in Takhar province.
Sunat Temor, spokesman for the provincial governor, informed the Warsuj, Chah Aab, Farkhar and Chaal districts are severely damaged by the floods while Namat Aab and Rustaq districts have witnessed landsliding. He confirmed more than 500 homes got damaged, nine people got killed and more than 20 others got wounded.
The provincial administration has provided relief and rescue support to affected people, he said. Sunat Temor added damage assessment teams are busy in estimating the losses, and help would be sought from Kabul to provide relief to the affected people.
Esmat Qurbani, member of the provincial council, has stressed hundreds of families are in dire need of aid. He lamented that the local administration has so far failed to provide relief to the affected people in the province.
