BAMYAN CITY (SW): Officials in Bamyan said flash floods caused by torrential rains have inflicted heavy losses upon locals in Koh Mard, Segan and Warus districts.
Abdul Habib Sailani, director at Segan district, informed ten homes, two schools and 350 jeribs of land as well as 17 kilometer roads have been damaged here. Mohammad Segani, governor of the district, informed the floods have caused destruction in fifty per cent of the whole district.
The Bamyan chapter of the National Disasters Management Authority (NDMA) has acknowledged these reports of losses. Reza Riffat, chairman of the NDMA committee in Bamyan, said a total of 182 homes are damaged in Koh Mard, and the main road leading to Segan closed down due to floods.
It is feared this situation has also inflicted human losses, but so far no confirmed reports of casualties have emerged.
