KABUL (SW): According to latest estimates by the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) flash floods have claimed lives and damaged property millions in the in various provinces.
Mohammad Aslam Sepas, Deputy Director ANDMA told SW the authority was doing all it can to rescue people, minimize the damage and provide relief to those in need.
“We have already provided the affected people with blanket, temporary shelters and food assistance for at least two months”, he said. He noted floods have seriously damaged infrastructure and agriculture as well.
For instance, Mohammad Zaman Shaker, Provincial Head of Disaster Management Authority in Nooristan province told SW the recent floods destroyed crops on around 1000 hectares of land.
He said no the floods have killed more than 150 domestic animals and damaged more than 20 residential units. He vowed the effected people would be given relief fund worth afs 15000 each were damaged.
Similar reports have been reported from Badakhshan, Baghlan, Parwan, Kapisa, Nangarhar, Loy Paktia region, and Maidan Wardak provinces.
