MAIMANA (SW) – Dozens of homes have been destroyed by heavy downpour and floods in Faryab province.
Members of the provincial council informed Salam Watandar the flash floods caused by heavy snowfall and rain have wreaked havoc in Khan Charagh and Qarmqul districts. This has also inflicted heavy toll on livestock.
Enginner Rozi, a member of the provincial council, said at least 150 homes have been destroyed and more than 400 animals killed.
A resident of the Qarmqul district, Shamsullah, said the floods hit their village at around 11 in the night leaving the residents stranded.
The provincial team of the National Disasters Management Authority has begun rescue and recovery operations. Head of the NDMA in Faryab, Abdul Wahab Akbari, acknowledged the damage caused in the said districts.
