FAIZABAD (SW): Flash floods have inflicted heavy losses in Badakhshan province, officials said.
Naik Mohammad Nazari, spokesman for the provincial governor, informed flash floods in various districts have claimed at least seven lives. He added hundreds of jeribs of agriculture land and more than one hundred homes got damaged.
Closing of main roads in the province has further aggravated the situation. Locals fear damage sustained by farmers coupled with demolition of homes would make lives miserable for many families.
The provincial administration announced to have dispatched survey teams to the area for damage assessment. Spokesman for the provincial governor informed efforts are underway to clear the blocked roads.
