KANDAHAR CITY (SW): The Taliban rebels shot five de-miners dead in Kandahar proivnce, Zia Durrani, spokesman for the police confirmed.
According to the official, the de-miners were working to clear the Malang Karez area in Maiwand district when the militants attacked them at around 10:00am. He added one of the de-miners has been abducted by the rebels.
The de-miners are said to be associated with the Aims De-mining Company (AMDC). An employee of this company who wished not to be named in the report has also confirmed the incident.
There has been no immediate claim of responsibility.
