JALALABAD (SW) – Armed attackers stormed a private construction firm in Jalalabad early on Wednesday morning killing at least 16 people.
Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor, said two suicide attackers detonated their explosives at the entrance, and three more attackers engaged in armed clashes with the security forces for at least eight hours. He said all five attackers and 16 employees of this company got killed in this while nine more people got injured.
A well-placed source told Salam Watandar the EBE Construction Company located in front of the air port is linked to the U.S. forces in Afghanistan. A number of foreign troops are stationed at this airport.
Khogyani said two among the injured employees of the firm are critically injured. He added a car filled with explosives and other arms and explosives have been confiscated during the clean-up operation.
There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
