MAIDAN CITY (SW): Five Afghan National Army (ANA) men have been found dead in Maidan Wardak province.
Local officials said that these ANA men were previously abducted as they were on their way from Kabul to Ghazni in a private car. The abduction reportedly took place in Syed Abad district’s Salaro area in the Maidan Wardak province.
Abdul Rahman Mangal, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Salam Watandar that the dead bodies have also been recovered from the Salaro area. “Soldiers of the Quick Response Unit of the ANA in Ghazni were taken down from the car by the Taliban in the Salaro area, they were taken to undisclosed location and today we found their bodies”, he said. Though, not much has been revealed about the identity of the soldiers, the authorities however, said that the ANA men violated rules by risking this journey in a private car without obtaining approval from their superiors.
A commission under the supervision of the governor for Maidan Wardak province has been formed to probe this incident. The Taliban militants have claimed responsibility for the attack.
