HERAT (SW) – The New Kabul Bank sustained financial losses worth millions of afghanis when fire broke out at a commercial plaza housing one of its branch in Heart city on Friday.
Jailani Farhaad, spokesman for the governor, informed Salam Watandar a team has been tasked to investigate the reasons behind the incident.
The eight-storey plaza was home to a number of commercial, academic and business centers.
Abdul Raheem Shafaq, head of NKB in Herat, said the fire destroyed cash reserves and important documents of the bank, however, the digital data and IT networks survived. He lamented the fire was not put-off soon enough to avoid the extent of damage.
The locals also pointed out absence of fire alarm systems in such new plazas in the city.
