TALOQAN (SW): As a result of ten hours of fire in Chah Aab district of Takhar province, more than 300 shops and 2 markets were completely destroyed on Monday night.
The fire broke out in a wood store at 8 p.m. Monday night and continued for 10 hours as the firefighters could not reach on time at the scene to extinguish the fire.
The shopkeepers said that the fire destroyed their entire goods and due to the darkness of the night they could not save their property. The owners of the shops said that the firefighters arrived at the scene of fire five hours late.
Sanat Timor, the provincial governor’s spokesman, said a large part of Chah Aab bazaar caught fire, inflicting heavy losses to the owners of the shops.
Faqir Mohammad Jawzjani, the provincial police spokesman, also said the details of the incident is unclear, but he added that locals saw unauthorized gunmen in the vicinity of the fire incident.
