KABUL (SW): The commission tasked to probe the fire that engulfed Kabul’s busy “Zadran Market” noted on Wednesday that the incident has caused a whooping financial loss of some $ 17 million to the unfortunate traders.
Sirus Alaf the head of the commission stressed today that the government should help the traders. He said on the occasion that the Afghan government should allow renowned insurance companies to operate in the country. Meanwhile, the traders have been allowed to start reconstruction and resume business.
A fire broke out in this market located in the capital’s Mirwais Maidan area earlier this week. As many as 1200 shops were gutted due to this fire in the 11-story market. Sayamuddin Pasarly, a member of the fact finding commission, told Salam Watandar that as much as 97 percent of the market has witnessed the damage. He promised that the Kabul Municipality would help the shoppers rebuild the market.
