TALUQAN (SW) – Deadly clashes between the security forces and the Taliban in Takhar province’s Dasht-e-Qala district have forced hundreds of families to flee.
Fatehullah, head of the Haq Nazar village development council in Dasht-e-Qala, told Salam Watandar up to 250 families have been forced to flee to Rustaq and Khwaja Ghar districts due to the fighting. He said these Internally Displaced Persons are in critical state. “Some IDPs have taken shelter at the homes of friends and relatives, but many more are living under the open sky”, he said.
Spokesman for the provincial administration, Jawad Hijri, confirmed a total of 3000 people from 11 villages have been displaced by the rages of war in Dasht-e-Qala.
The fighting in this district also led to closure of main communication routs in the district forcing the locals to travel on treacherous routes, which has also resulted in abductions.
