KABUL (SW) – The international governing body of football, FIFA, has named Yosuf Kargar, as President of Afghanistan Football Federation in place of the controversial former chief, Karamuddin Karam.
On the official FIFA page, Kargar has been named as President of the AFF in place of Karam. The controversial former secretary general of the AFF, Syed Ali Reza has also been replaced with Fazil Shahab. The newly introduced officials have also been given additional charge of deputy head and head of financial affairs.
Karam was previously suspended by FIFA following serious allegations of sexual and physically abuse levelled against him by members of the national women’s team. These allegations also cost the national team its commercial sponsors.

At first, the Danish sportswear firm, Humel, withdrew its support. It was followed by Afghan multi-national brand, the Alokozay Group of Companies, which was paying up to $ 8 million per year to the AFF for the promotion of sport in the country.
