CHAGCHARAN (SW): Internal feud between two armed men in Ghor province has led to the abduction of at least eight students.

According to the locals, these students were on their way to obtain ‘Tazkira’ (national identity card) from the Shahrak district when armed men associated with the local warlords Ghafoor and Nasir abducted them. It is said that the students were first beaten and then taken away as hostages. One among these abducted students identified as Ziauddin has been injured and left behind by the armed men, locals told Salam Watandar. Fazal Haq, father of the injured student has said that his son is hospitalized in critical condition.

Ziauddin Saqib, acting police chief for the province, has confirmed the incident. He said that the exact number of abducted students is not known yet. He blamed the internal feud between the warlords as the reason behind the incident.

Meanwhile, in retaliation to the abductions, locals have taken away five relatives of warlord Ghafoor as hostage, and have vowed not to release them until the abducted students are not set free. The feud between the two warlords has been lingering for at least four years now, and has claimed at least eight lives.
