KABUL (SW) – Officials from the Free and Fair Election Foundation of Afghanistan have called on the Independent Election Commission to recount votes from Kunduz province in addition to recounting votes from Kabul.
Yousaf Rasheed, executive director of FEFA, told a presser here on Monday a number of candidates have claimed that ballots were manipulated in Kunduz province. According to Rasheed, their studies also show that the results of the votes cast in Kunduz and Kabul have irregularities, and in order to create greater transparency, the IEC should recount the votes of the two provinces.
Salam Watandar wanted to have views of the IEC, but to no avail.
The FEFA also urged the Independent Election Complaints Commission to allow candidates' observers to monitor the process of audit and recount votes.
