KABUL (SW) – Latest spate of insecurity in a number of provinces has made Kabul residents frightened in the wake of the Eid holidays.
In conversation with Salam Watandar, a number of Kabul residents said they are too terrified to visit picnic resorts or recreational locations during Eid holidays out of fear.
However, Najib Danish, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, has asserted a special security plan has been chalked to ensure peace and security for the Eid.
In the meantime, Haji Deen Mohammad, deputy head of the High Peace Council, said today there are good prospects for a ceasefire during the Eid festival. He said the duration of this ceasefire is not finalized yet.
In the Eid-ul-Fitre two months ago, a ceasefire was enforced between the government and the Taliban during which the rebels entered main cities. However, in his message for Eid, the Taliban supreme leader, Mulla Hibatullah, did not mention possible ceasefire on this coming Eid.
