Fast and furious Zadran to shorten run-up

14/06/2016

KABUL (SW): The flamboyant fast bowler Shahpoor Zadran has decided to shorten his run-up in a bid to improve his control over swing, line and length for the forthcoming tour of Europe.

Zadran is part of the national squad that would take on Ireland, Scotland and Netherland next month for a number of One Day Internationals (ODIs) and a four-day match. In latest remarks, Zadran has said that his previous run-up was too long for him to sustain for longer period.

In the ongoing training camp at Greater Noida in New Delhi, India, Zadran is working on his new run-up.

The fast bowler is working on new run-up with the coach Dawlat Ahmadzai. The coach has assured the pacer that his speed would increase and control over swing, line and length would improve.

Ahmadzai, in a separate message, has said that Zadran can play for as many as four more years if he shortens his run-up.

Zadran is among the handpicked fast bowlers in the modern day cricket that have a relatively longer run-up.

As a tall fast bowler running from a distance towards that pitch, Shahpur Zadran has many followers in the game of cricket.

Like the injured Hameed Hassan; Zadran has been advised by world class bowlers like Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar to shorten his run-up.
