MAIMANA (SW) – Lack of job security and job opportunities for educated people in Faryab have discouraged many youngsters from seeking education.
Two such youngsters, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Sadiq, told Salam Watandar that they left school because of lack of job opportunities for the graduates. Both of them said they are currently working at workshops as metal workers. Both of them dropped out of school at the 11th grade.
Their employer, Mohammad Amin said there are several metalworking shops on the side of the roads, and each one has several young men working there indicating young people's interest in professional work rather than studies.
Karima Beihaqhi, Faryab's head of labor and social affairs department, has also acknowledged this growing trend in the province.
There is a growing interest among young people for vocational work at a time when some 1,200 students graduated from Faryab University this year. Many of these graduates blamed the government for not creating job opportunities for them.
