FARYAB (SW): Hundreds of Faryab residents today at a gathering called for the return of Abdul Rashid Dostum, the first vice president from exile.

The protesters charged the central government of negligence in stabilizing security in Faryab and warned that if the government does not end its “fascist” policies and does not provide a ground for General Abdul Rashid Dostum’s return from exile, they will stage an uprising against the government.

Jamal Nasir Farahmand, a protester said that dozens of people are killed every day due to insecurity in Faryab, however, the government does not pay the least attention to this province.

Another protestor, Kanishka Turkistani told Salam Watandar that without General Dostum, peace is impossible in Afghanistan, and the government must provide the ground for his return without any conditions.

The Directorate of National Security in Faryab issued a statement saying that the gathering was organized by the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan, General Dostum’s party. The newsletter also said that the students and people were compelled to participate in this gathering by the NIMA.
