MAIMANA (SW): the local officials in northern Faryaab province have said that in addition to nine new schools that are going to be built in the province, a total of 90 other schools would see facelift in the coming days.
Ghulam Sakhi Bayan, Head of Education Department in the province, said on Saturday that for the construction of these new schools in Faryaab, the Government of Norway has vowed to support building these schools in the province in the current year. According to him, these 9 schools would cost some $ 2 million that will be funded by the Government of Norway.
He added that establishing these schools would resolve the problems faced by nearly 20,000 students who currently study in the open space or under shelters.
He further said that the local officials would do their best to build more and more schools in the province.
According to the local officials in Faryaab, there are 533 schools in the province out of which 269 have no proper buildings or any buildings at all that compel students to study under the shelters.
