SHARAN (SW) – Farmers and traders in Paktika have expressed gratification over the significant improvement in the yields of variety of apples in the province.
According to the locals in this southeastern province, if the government pays more attention to this province, the yields would further improve significantly. It was informed the income for the local farmers and traders surged three-fold this year.
Local farmers, Abdul Raheem, Dawlat Khan and tradre, Habibullah, informed Salam Watandar apples grown in Paktika are famous for its quality and taste, and are even exported abroad via the capital Kabul.
Tila Khan Zaheen, president of the Paktika Chamber of Commerce and Industries said in this regard the yield has improved by 40 per cent. He added efforts are underway to explore new export markets in places like the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other countries.
