KABUL (SW) – The dead bodies of a soldier named Zaher son of Dawood has been in the mortuary of Ghor province for the past two months.
Mira Jan Ahmad, director of the public hospital in Ghor, told Salam Watandar no one has come so far to collect this fallen solider. He added the initial information indicate Zaher is a native of Barzo village in the Shahrak district of Ghor, and lost his life fighting the rebels in Farah province.
The local civil society are criticizing the local administration for not doing enough to find out about the relatives of this soldier who gave his life fighting for the defense of the country. They stressed it is the responsibility of the officials to ensure handing over the soldier’s body to his family for dignified burial.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Dawood Rehmani, director coordination of security forces in Ghor, said he was not aware about this incident. He vowed to immediately inform the local elders in Shahrat about Zaher.
According to the officials, Zaher’s village, Barzo, is under the control of the Taliban close to the border with Badghes province.
