KABUL (SW): People were gathered to get identity cards for the forthcoming elections in Kabul’s sixth police district when a loud explosion ripped through killing scores of them.
At the site of the carnage, friends and relatives of those who lost lives and limbs were seen in evidently shaken state while journalists were striving to get first-hand accounts from the eyewitness. Minutes later, the firefighters arrived and washed away the site.
Jawad, an eye witness shared with Salam Watandar what he saw. “I saw with my own eyes at least 12 children got killed, women were also among the victims”. Hassan, another eye-witness has a grocery shop nearby. “I have transported up to 40 dead and wounded to private hospital when there was no ambulance around. The officials asked everyone to come for the identity cards today because the forms finished yesterday, so the area was crowded”.
Hassan could not hold his emotions when he was narrating the tale of a young child dying in the arms of his mother due to the blast.
Most of the victims of this carnage were shifted to the Isteqlal Hospital that also turned into site of the calamity. The sighs of the grieving citizens were all around with mourning friends and relatives bursting into tears while continuing the search for life.
The hospital administration confirmed 36 casualties, including six children and 66 injured.
