GHAZNI (SW): Sakhi shrine often referred to as Sakhi Passage (Guzargah Sakhi) which is located in the eastern part of the Ghazni city was destroyed by a landmine explosion last night.

Mohammad Arif Noori, the spokesperson for the Governor of Ghazni said that some terrorist group with ISIS’s viewpoint has destroyed the Sakhi Shrine last night. According to him, police has begun to investigate the case and search for the perpetrators of this explosion.

Some residents of Ghazni connected the incident to the ISIS group, however, Mohammad Arif Noori, the spokesperson for the governor of Ghazni told Salam Watandar that ISIS doesn’t exist in Ghazni province and such kind of attacks have been seen in other districts of Ghazni such as Qarabagh and Moqor and this incident in the Ghazni city has been the third of such attacks on Shrines.

Meanwhile, Bashir Mohammadi, the head of Ghazni’s Information and Culture Directorate told Salam Watandar that they have been worried about the destruction of hundreds of historical monuments in this province that do not have protection. He called on the Ministry of Interior to safeguard these historical places.

Hassan Reza Yousufi, a member of the Ghazni Provincial Council, said the government should take these incidents seriously. According to him, ISIS and the Taliban are trying to create divisions among the people and now that the Persian New Year (Nawruz) is approaching, the government should intensify the security measures.

Although several anti-government armed groups have already been operating in Ghazni, the attack on the Shrines has increased as within two months only three shrines have been reportedly attacked.

The Sakhi Shrine or Guzargah Sakhi is where the residents of Ghazni are going to celebrate the Nawruz on the hills around the shrine during the days of the Persian New Year.
