KABUL (SW) – The ‘Darul Moalemeens’, public sector teacher training institutes would not enroll fresh high-school graduates for at least a decade nationwide.
Mirwais Balkhi, interim-minister for the MoE, told Salam Watandar in an exclusive interview these institutes would be instead properly used to train and lift the skills of serving public sector teachers across the country. He said drastic changes would be brought to the structure and operation of the teacher training institutes.
In response to a question related to the protest by the students of Darul Moalemeen Syed Jamaluddin Afghan, the interim-minister said it has been decided after consultation with the relevant stakeholders that no plans would be chalked for the up-gradation of the teacher training institutes. He said academic activities at the Darul Moalemeen Syed Jamaluddin Afghan would commence normally in spring.
He said some 70,000 public sector teachers who are high-school graduates need to be trained and equipped with latest skills, and it would be done through the teacher training institutes.
