KABUL (SW): Anoush Dastgir, former Afghan national football star and current assistant coach, has said in an exclusive interview with Salam Watandar he has no plans to serve as head-coach.
Dastgir said he poses a reputed ‘A’ Category European certificate proving his credentials as quality football trainer that can get him jobs as trainer for a known club or any national team. The former star said he wishes to be in action on the pitch with the players on almost daily basis, something not possible with the Afghan national squad.
About a question relating to a possible offer to him by the Afghanistan Football Federation, he said he would only think about accepting this offer in some ten years from now. He informed the AFF is considering plans for the coaching staff. Currently, Otto Martin Pfister from Germany is the head coach for Afghanistan.
Few days back, Dastgir became the youngest holder of A Category football training certificate in Europe. The former national team payer said his tireless hard work earned him 9.3 marks out of a total of 10. The 28-year-old is currently residing in the Netherlands. He has played four international matches for Afghanistan between 2015 and 2017 as a defending mid-fielder.
He retired from playing football in 2017, and is since serving as coach.
