KABUL (SW) – Tamim Shansab, owner of a private security firm – who was engaged in exchange of fire with the police at a disputed residential home since Monday – was arrested on Tuesday.
Nusrat Rahimi, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, told Salam Watandar Tamim has been arrested along with 18 of his guards. He added one policeman and a guard of Tamim got killed and six more policemen got injured in the standoff.
The deputy spokesman said Tamim had encroached upon the residence of a Kabul resident, Asadullah. And, when police wished to vacate the disputed home on the court orders, Tamim and his guard resorted to armed resistance.
This resulted in spread of fear and closure of markets in the downtown, Shahr-e-Nau, area of the city.
Khatsaar and Mohammad Arif, two residents of the neighborhood, told SW many people fled the area due to the exchange of fire. They added the whole neighborhood was close for 24 hours to arrest Tamim leaving negative impacts on businesses.
Security forces claim to have confiscated heavy machinegus and others arms from the possession of Tamim.
