KABUL (SW) – The Independent Election Commission has initiated evaluation of nomination papers of the 17 candidates for the forthcoming presidential polls.
Abdul Aziz Ibrahimi, IEC commissioner and deputy spokesman, told Salam Watandar the evaluation would be completed in two weeks. He added that the initial list of candidates would be issued afterwards. According to the IEC commissioner, time would be given for complaints against the initial list before the final list is issued.
In the meantime, commissioner and spokesman for the Independent Election Complaint Commission, Ali Reza Rouhani, has said evaluation of complaints against the initial list of presidential candidates would take up to a month.
Sunday was the last day for nomination for the presidential polls. Up to 17 candidates, including president Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and CEO Abdullah Abdullah, have submitted nomination paper. According to the IEC, the presidential polls would be held on 07 July, 2019.
