EU calls for probe into allegations against Dostum

KABUL (SW): The EU and its Member States present in Kabul, Australia, Canada and Norway have called for an official investigation into reports of gross human rights' violations allegedly committed by the 1st Vice President, General Abdul Rashid Dostum.

In a statement, the EU has called for transparent official investigation into reports of gross human rights’ violations and abuses against a senior politician Ahmad Ishchi who has blamed Gen. Dostum for ‘keeping him naked in a private cell, and directing sexual assaults against him for five consecutive days’.

Ishchi; a senior member of Dostum’s Junbish party has charged that while men of the VP were busy in sexual assault against him, others were capturing the scene on video cameras. His son, Babur Ishchi, member of Jawzjan provincial council, has also called for investigations into the incident. In conversation with Salam Watandar, he said that this incident is not acceptable to them.

In the meantime, the VP’s office has rejected the allegations. In a message, it said that all those calling for probe into the incident should not have a rush.  The VP’s office has charged Ischi for promoting violence and lawlessness in Jawzjan.
