KABUL (SW): Gen. Taj Mohammad Jahed, the Minister for Interior Affairs, told the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) on Monday that the enemies of the nation are united in their bid to cause havoc in Afghanistan.
Jahed and a number of other ministers were called by the house to brief the law makers over the prevailing situation in the country. The minister added that ragging violence has left devastating impacts on every aspect of life in Afghanistan. He however, asserted that the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) are capable and ready to thwart the evil plans of the enemies.
Jahed underlined that besides the violence, the cultivation and consumption of narcotics have also posed grim threat to the lives of the countrymen. He said that the enemies had planned to overrun huge swaths of land across the country but their plans were thwarted by the ANSF. He said the militants wished to block highways and attack districts but later decided to wage assaults on major cities. Without going into details, the minister said heavy casualties have occurred on both sides in the latest fighting. He asserted that the ANSF are chalking effective plans and paying sacrifices on daily basis to ensure peace and stability.
