PUL-I-ALAM (SW): Local authorities in Logar province said to have reclaimed up to four thousand jeribs of state land from the land-grabbers.
Saleem Saleh, spokesman for the provincial governor, told journalists on Saturday the move is in line with the Presidential directives against the land grabbing across the country. Saleh informed a number of people have been arrested on charges of land grabbing. The land has been reclaimed in the provincial capital Pul-i-Alam and Mohammad Agha district.
According to the court’s ruling, up to 12, 000 jeribs of state land is under illegal possession in the province. Saleh said besides the armed rebels, a number of land-grabbers are hindering developing projects, but soon more actions against such people would be taken. “In the whole province some 19 hundred people are charged with land-grabbing, up to 98 of them have been arrested and handed over to the judicial organs”, he said.
