KABUL (SW) – Election observers claim the German manufacturer of the biometric device, Dermalog, is spearheading the recount and sorting process of the presidential polls.
An election observer, Mubeenullah Aimaq, said at a press conference here on Monday that the Independent Election Commission is unable to independently supervise the process of transferring the data of sorted out and verified votes, which is spearheaded by Dermalog.
The election observers have urged the government to ensure timely announcement of the preliminary and eventually final results.
However, the IEC spokesman Abdul Aziz Ibrahimi has discarded these reports. He said no firm, but the electoral commission is heading the whole process.
Separately, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah told the cabinet meeting on Monday that the transparency must be ensured in the sorting and recounting processes.
Abdul Aziz Ibrahime, a spokesman for the IEC, has said the final results will be announced on Dec. 05. This announcement comes just a day after the IEC said the poll’s initial results will be announced on Nov. 14.
