KABUL (SW): Mujib Rahman Rahimi, spokesman for the Chief Executive Officer of Afghanistan CEO today at a news conference in Kabul said that voter registration process is conducted normally at the voting centers across the country.
He urged the people to participate widely in this process. However, he informed that faking the “paper national identity cards” is a possibility for fraud which is a great concern for people and due to frauds in the past elections; the public has lost confidence in the Independent Election Commission (IEC). Though, he assured that the process of voters’ registration has been relatively transparent.
Rahimi added that national identity card numbers of voters are recorded in the IEC registration book and on the day of the election only persons are allowed to vote whose national identity card numbers have been registered with the IEC.
The voters’ registration process started five days ago across the country. But due to widespread frauds in the past election, at least so far, fewer people have registered to vote.
