LASHKARGAH (SW) – At least eight people lost their lives as their boat capsized in the Helmand River, an official confirmed on Wednesday.
Omar Zwak, spokesman for the governor of Helmand, confirmed that the incident took place this morning in the Azan area of Kajaki district of the province when eight residents of the district wanted to cross the Helmand River in a boat. According to him, two women, three children and three men were among those drowned.
The spokesman for the Helmand governor added efforts were under way to find and retrieve their bodies.
