KABUL (SW) – Members of the Integrity Watch Afghanistan on Tuesday dubbed the proposed draft annual budget for 2020-21 as incompatible to address the pressing needs of the country.
Mohammad Nasir Taimuri, head of communication at the anti-corruption watchdog, said though the revenue collection and budget utilization have improved during the National Unity Government, but the proposed annual budget does not reflect the pressing demands of the people.
Speaking on the occasion, civil society activist, Frozan Rasouli said recommendations for national budget should come throughout the year so that they are included in the proposal.
Acknowledging the constraints, Shamroz Khan Masjidi, spokesman for the Ministry of Finance, said the country still depends for some 50 per cent of the budget on the international community.
