SHEBERGHAN (SW): Hundreds of Jawzjan residents have poured to streets to protest against President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani’s ‘discriminatory’ policies towards the Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum.
These protestors gathered in Boghdi Park area of Sheberghan warning that if the President continued with his behavior towards the VP, people will rise against him. Enayatullah Babur Farahmand, chief of staff of the Vice President, while addressing the protestors said this demonstration was peaceful and rightful, but if the President does not take positive steps, this protest will become much bigger and the responsibility will fall on the President.
The protestors claimed that the President has curtailed the authorities of his 1st VP and he is not fulfilling his promises.
Qudratullah Watan, head of the Junbish-i- Milli Party’s youth wing, at the gathering said: “We created this government, if we want we can finish it too”. He further said the government should eliminate corruption and put end to ‘ethnic prejudices’. In this protest, Mawlawi Abdul Hai Hayat, head of Jawzjan’s provincial council, also emphasized that the government should avoid ‘ethnic prejudices’.
