DOSTUM PREDICTS DAESH’S SURGE IN AFGHANISTAN

15/10/2016

MAIMANA (SW): Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum, the First Vice President has predicted that thousands of more pro-Daesh rebels are set to arrive and cause havoc in Afghanistan next year.

Talking to a group of journalists Qaisar, Faryab last evening, Dostum said as many as 7000 more pro-Daesh fighters from Iraq, Syria and Lebanon would enter Afghanistan by the upcoming spring, and cause havoc. The VP, who is currently supervising military operation against the Taliban in Faryab, said that these 7000 fighters would be concentrated in Faryab, Samangan Jawzjan, Sar-i-Pul and Balkh provinces.

He urged the government to take necessary measures to counter this development. He vowed that the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) would launch operations against the militants in two days. To prevent Daesh’s influence, we would establish a military base in Faryab, he added.

On October 11, 2016, the Taliban managed to overrun Ghormach district in the province.

Taking a number of magistrates with him to Faryab, Dostum has said that those officials found guilty of negligence behind the fall of Ghormach’s brief fall should be held accountable.

The VP announced that with an estimated 4000 armed men under his command, he would reach the “Urdugah Chenaeha” (Uyghur Chinese) camp by late Saturday to launch cleansing operation against the insurgents.
