KABUL (SW): Representatives of the disabled persons on Saturday urged upon the government to highlight their concerns at the forthcoming Brussels Conference on Afghanistan.
The representatives for disabled persons urged the government to include the demands of their issues on the agenda of the Brussels Conference on Afghanistan. In a press conference here, they also asked the international community to support the disabled persons in Afghanistan.
Samay-ul-Haq Samay, talking on behalf of the disabled persons, said that the Afghan government together with international organizations have helped them so far but it is not enough to address the miseries they face on daily basis.
Samay added that people with disabilities are faced with enormous social challenges and unemployment. Although, the exact number of disabled persons in Afghanistan is not known, a survey conducted in the year 2015 indicated that there more than 800, 000 people with disabilities in Afghanistan.
