PUL-E-KHOMRI (SW): Tens of doctors went on strike over security forces’ attitude towards them in northern Baghlan province.
The protesting doctors said that the security forces beat them when they shift their injured comrades to the hospital, and force them to pay attention to the injured in a rude way. They released a statement warning that if their problems are not solved, they would shut down all health centers and hospitals in the provinc
Abdul Alim Ghafari, Deputy Head for Department of Health in the province, said that they have many complaints that the doctors have even been threatened to death. He said that when the treatment is beyond their capability, security forces start beating them-up and urge them to do a “miracle” and treat the patients.
He added that the intervention of security forces personnel in health related issues is one of the biggest challenges that the doctors are faced in the province.
Ghulam Sakhi Naikpai, an officials at the Police Chief Department in Baghlan, confirming the news said that they would consider it a serious problem and would soon punish those involved in beating up the doctors.
The hospital in Baghlan is equipped with 120 beds and 500 patients go there on daily basis to seek treatment.
