KABUL(SW): Local officials in Badghis and Faryab provinces said that some districts in these provinces have turned into Taliban centers where they plan their attacks.
Bahawuddin Qadesi, Head of Provincial Council in Badghis, told Salamwatandar that Taliban have gathered in Bala Marghab, Qades, Juwand, Moqur and Ghormach districts in an attempt to organize their attacks.
He said that Taliban have chosen districts in Badghis following the mop-up operation in Faryaab province. He further said that most Taliban attacks were conducted from the same very districts.
He warned that if the government would not conduct a comprehensive mopping-up operation against Taliban centers in Badghis, security threats could increase that would lead to the collapse of other neighboring districts in Badghis.
Ziaul Haq Feroz Kohi, an official at the Chief Executive Office, said that poor management in Badghis province as well as drawbacks about the mop-up operation were the reasons for Taliban to pour into Badghis.
He agreed that security threats have increased in Bala Marghab, Moqur, Juwand and Ab Kamari districts.
Abdul Aziz Amani, acting police chief in Badghis, confirms the presence of Taliban in Bala Marghab and Juwand districts but said they do not pose any grave security threats.
He said that the Taliban in Badghis could not resist security forces and whenever they attacked security check points they were defeated.
A few months back, Bala Marghab district fell to Taliban that raise concerns but security forces soon recaptured it.
