MAIDAN CITY (SW): A number of disabled persons in central Maidan Wardak province have blamed the authorities for denying them their salaries for almost two years now.
In exclusive conversations with Salam Watandar, the disabled persons asserted that only those with well-placed contacts have access to the salaries while the rest remain on the waiting list. A disabled man named Sabawoon said he has been trying his luck at the concerned departments for the past two years now but to no avail.
Akhtar Mohammad is another such deprived person with disability, who hails from the restive Jalrez district in Maidan Wardak province. He claimed that some 500 people like him have been denied their right and no authority seems to care.
Mohammad Aslam Hussain, Director Labor, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled, said in this regard that no one has been deprived of their due rights. He rejected allegations about the government denying granting the disabled persons their right. He however, told Salam Watandar that some individuals might have been overlooked.
Hussain said that based on the departments figures, 420 people with disabilities in the province might have been missed for payments. We are trying our best to give them their right and provide job opportunities for them within the province, he said.
It is vital to note that few months back, Nasrin Oryakhail, Minister for Labor, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled told Salam Watandar that there are some 50, 000 ghost disabled person that have withdrawing salaries from the government for years.
