Differences among authorities lead to insecurity in Farah

HERAT CITY (SW): Members of Farah Council of Public Affairs have expressed deep concerns over insecurity in the province.

Intense fighting has forced some 3000 families to flee their hometowns. They have said that the Taliban militants have besieged the city. Speaking at a press conference in Herat city, the members of Farah Council of Public Affair noted that differences existing among local authorities, extensive corruption and interferences are the main reasons behind the escalating insecurity in Farah province.

Farid Sibath, member of Farah Council of Public Affairs, stated that corruption and lack of facilities are the main causes behind the current differences existing among local authorities.

Ahmad Rezaq Faizi, another member of Farah Council of Public Affairs, asserted that intense fighting between the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) and the militants is underway around the suburbs of the city. He noted that locals have witnessed Urdu-speaking fighters among the rebels.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Nasir Mehri, the spokesperson for the governor, told Salam Watandar that that the Afghan National Security Forces have reclaimed several areas in the outskirts of city, and the cleansing operation is underway in number of villages.

The spokesperson for the governor stated that there are no differences among the local authorities at all. He however, said that some neighboring countries interfere in domestic issues of Farah in a bid to negatively influence the developing projects in this province, he added. 

Mehri pointed out that though the Taliban militants have strong presence in Bala Bulok, Bakwa and Pusht-e-Rod districts, the ANSF has control over these districts.
