KABUL (SW) – Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, presidential candidate, claimed on Monday bribes worth $ 27 million have been paid to the German firm, Dermalog for election related fraud.
He said this addressing a press conference at his party headquarters. The presidential candidate did not blame any specific electoral team, but claimed this amount has been paid against the 25,000 biometric devices.
Hekmatyar claimed the devices provided by the German firm worth not more than $ 10 million. He claimed many firms were ready to render the same services against a much lower fee of around $ 10 million. He claimed up to 44 per cent of votes balloted during the polls were rigged by the team that initially opposed the use of biometric devices.
It is worth noticing that only the State Builder electoral team is insisting upon counting the estimated 300,000 votes balloted after the polling time.
In his remarks, Hekmatyar said the Supreme Court and Attorney General’s Office cannot impartially probe the matter hence a committee of presidential candidates should be formed to look into the matter. He demanded the formation of an interim government in case no candidate emerges as victorious following the proposed second round of voting.
