KABUL (SW) – A number of supporters of the Peace and Islamic Justice electoral team led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, took to the streets in Kabul.
The protesters claimed the election commission and the State Builder electoral team by President Ashraf Ghani have cheated in the presidential election. They vowed not to allow anyone grab the top position through fraud.
According to the protesters, the election commission should separate clean votes from void ones and not legitimize fake votes. The protesters warned they will use all means at their disposals in support for their demands.
Speaking at a presser, Hekmatyar, a presidential candidate, demanded the establishment of a provisional government. He added that the national unity government cannot control the current situation in the country and that an interim government shall be created to get out of this situation.
Earlier this week, the Council of Presidential Candidates had also said that a ‘National Partnership Government’ shall be created to overcome the current crisis.
A number of supporters of the Stability and Partnership team by Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, another presidential candidates, protested in Kapisa and Bamyan provinces against the alleged vote fraud.
Protesters said the election commission must cancel the 300,000 alleged fraudulent votes.
