KABUL (SW): A delighting trip of the Indian national cricket team of disabled men to Afghanistan ended on a rather sad note as manager of the guest team was found dead in the hostel on the final day of the trip.
The Indian side was all praise for the Afghan’s warm hospitality. The unfortunate incident has been confirmed by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB). Farid Hotak, spokesman for the ACB told Salam Watandar that the Indian manager J.P.Malik was found dead in the toilet of his room inside the hostel at the ACB. The deceased was 68 years old and had been serving the Indian cricket team for disabled men for quite a while now.
Hotak told Salam Watandar that late Malik might have died due to a heart attack but it is not certain yet. On completion of the tour, the Indian side has left for New Delhi. The ACB has informed Indian Embassy in Kabul about the incident. Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj has noted a tweet that the Indian Ambassador in Afghanistan has informed her about the unfortunate incident.
Earlier in July, the Indian team of disabled men created history by becoming the first national cricket team to visit Afghanistan for a bilateral series. Afghanistan won the series of three T20 matched 2-1.
