SHEBERGHAN (SW) – A number of Jawzjan residents gathered in front of the provincial court on Wednesday charging the Deash rebels with war crimes, and demanding their trial.
Earlier in the day, up to 230 foreign and local Daesh militants surrendered to the security forces in Darzaab district. The protesters said the militants committed war crimes, sexually and physically assaulted the locals and committed other inhuman acts. They vowed to stand against the government if these militants are not made to pay for their crimes.
Among the protesters were those forced to flee their homes in Dazaad due to insecurity. Three such protesters, Hayatullah, Abdul Salam and Abdul Manan, said besides the killings and abuses, the militants also extorted levies from them that crippled their financial state.
In the meantime, Faqir Mohammad Jawzjani, provincial police chief, has vowed no one can escape from the law, and justice would be done in regard to Daesh here.
