03/11/2019

JALALABAD (SW) – Students at various private medical varsities in Nangarhar say the lack of practical training has left them in doldrums.

One such student at a private medical university, Najla, said the fees at these private medical colleges are high, and the lack of practical training opportunities has made thing worst. Fawzia, her fellow medical student, said she has completed nursing course, but is yet to have practical training.

The situation has also alarmed the local population. A Nangarhar resident, Sahel Sadat, said lack of training for medical students combined with the sale of substandard medicine in the market has created a catastrophic scenario for patients in need of proper care and treatment.

Meanwhile, Prof. Mohammad Haroon Rahimi, deputy head of the Nangarahr University’s Teaching Hospital, pledged to extend due support in providing practical training opportunities to medical students.
