KABUL (SW): The Ministry of Urban Development Affairs (MoUDA) on Saturday inked deal worth $ 11.4 million with a Turkish company for the establishment of an industrial plant for prefabricated construction materials.
Afghan officials said on the occasion the factory would help create jobs, promote local industry and lift the standards of construction in the country. They added some 300, 000 square meters of construction material would be produced at this factory on annual basis.
Syed Saadat Mansour Naderi, Minister for Urban Development Affairs, said on the occasion this one of a kind facility would be functional in a year’s time. He noted the facility would have some 37 modern production units. In the first phase, he said, the factory would produce prefabricated construction units for schools, universities and hospitals across the country. The Minister claimed it would help bring down per meter cost of residential apartments from $ 350 to $ 275.
Orya Gooner, Chairman of the Turkish firm ‘Vefa’, expressed gratitude on the occasion. He promised to expand ties with Afghanistan in this sector.
